TotalEnergies and H2point open a hydrogen refueling station in Roosendaal, the Netherlands
The Dutch version of this press release can be found here.
The Hague, June 28, 2023 – TotalEnergies and H2point have inaugurated today a new public hydrogen refueling station in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, in the presence of Robert Joore, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nederland, Antoine Tournand, Vice President Hydrogen of TotalEnergies Marketing & Services and Paul Smits, Director of H2point.
A new H2 refueling station for light and heavy vehicles
This new publicly accessible hydrogen refueling station is located on the Aanwas, at exit 20 of the A7 in Roosendaal in the southern province of West Brabant. It supplies hydrogen (H2) at a pressure of 700 bar, suitable for passenger cars and other light vehicles, and 350 bar, mainly used for heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks. In addition, there are four 300 kW charging points for fast charging of electric trucks and passenger cars.
The hydrogen refueling station in Roosendaal is the result of a partnership between TotalEnergies in the Netherlands and H2point and is part of the heavy duty network of H2 stations that TotalEnergies is currently developing in Europe. This station is also planned to become part of the announced joint venture with Air Liquide that aims to deploy more than 100 hydrogen stations on major European roads – mainly in France, Benelux and Germany – in the coming years.
The new hydrogen refueling station has been made possible with financial support from the Dutch government and the European Union. A financial incentive contribution was received from the DKTI scheme, through which the Dutch government supports sustainable mobility projects, including the construction of H2 stations. European funding was also obtained from BENEFIC, a cross-border and innovative project for the development of charging and refueling infrastructure for alternative transport fuels.
Robert Joore, Managing Director van TotalEnergies Marketing Nederland: “The opening of the hydrogen refueling station in Roosendaal in partnership with H2point is in line with TotalEnergies' ambition to operate carbon neutral by 2050, together with society. It is our Company’s fifth H2 station in the Netherlands, in addition to Arnhem, Delfzijl (buses), Breda and Veldhoven.”
Antoine Tournand, Vice President Hydrogen at TotalEnergies Marketing & Services: “For international long-haul and heavy-duty applications, hydrogen has its best competitive advantage. It allows fast refueling, comparable to diesel, and it gives long autonomy, up to 1,000 km. The new TotalEnergies H2 refueling station in Roosendaal is the first to be specially designed and built to reflect the latest developments and customer expectations in H2 technology. Today’s opening is an important step towards our goal of contributing to a more sustainable and decarbonized future for the transport industry.”
Paul Smits, Managing Director of H2point: "With the realization of this hydrogen refueling station in Roosendaal the province of West Brabant, the 'logistics hotspot of the Netherlands,' is ready for the future. The station contributes to the transition to sustainable hydrogen mobility and H2point's strive towards a nationwide network of hydrogen stations. Thanks to our subsidy partners RVO, for the financial support from the DKTI transport scheme, and the European Union, for its BENEFIC funding from the Connecting Europe Facility program (CEF)."
